I have used small cat litter trays and huge dog pen trays, anything works. Water depth is 2 to 4 cm and doesnt require any air at all as long as you dont hatch too many. If you want larger hatches, find larger trays. The "cover" I used was generally a lump of cardboard from an old box. As long as its flat and stops the light at the sides, it will work. Its a very simple way to get shrimps without the shells, I dont know if things have changed now, but it used to be impossible to get unshelled eggs that wasnt salt lake. San Fransisco eggs never came like that when I did it before, and besides, unshelled are expensive.

and yes, small world, lol.

oops I didnt lable the cover, but you can see what I mean.

only thing I forgot to mention, they swim towards light and I used to keep a light
above the collection end. I used old desk lamps because I had some handy at the time
but any light will do. I bet you never use coke bottles and air pumps again :)

I found a pic of what I based it on...

cant quite see from the pic but the shrimps swam under the white rings and
over a black one to get to the center, where the collector is. There was a hole in the middle of the lid to let the light through.
